Web Promtion Packages

Trying to decide if you should promote your website? Imagine what would happen if you were in the top ten positions in a search engine for a variety of your product keywords, i.e., plumbing supplies, fixtures, heating, etc? If a 1000 people are typing "plumbing supplies" in Google every 24 hours, then a top organic listing could generate a lot of new sales for your company. The question is: how to I get to the top and what is it going to cost?

At the moment, there are two ways to appear at the top of a search engine: by using pay-per-click ads (PPC) or by optimizing your website. Given that some businesses typically spend as much as $60,000 per month on pay-per-click campaigns using Google Adwords, you know that being at the top of a search engine is a serious business. Very few, however, will spend any money on optimizing the site and making sure that it is capable of turning all these visitors into a buying customer.

If your heart is set on pay-per-click ads, here are some the more popular and highly rated search engines (besides Google and Overture) which allow you to choose keywords that you would like your site to appear for when a search is performed. You pay only when a searcher clicks on your listing and connects to your site. You don’t pay to list, you only pay for clicks or click throughs.

Visit Pay Per Click Guide and Pay Per Click Search Engines for reviews on pay per click programs. Also visit Search Engine Guide for more information.

Search123 allows advertisers to list their sites, bid on keywords and receive targeted search traffic from hundreds of high quality content sites, directories and search engines.

Pay-per-click ads are not only an expensive way to get to the top of a search engine, it is unlikely that they will be able to generate as many sales or as much traffic as a top 10 organic listing. It is no secret that most consumers click on organic listings in search engines 20 times more frequently than PPC ads. (according to a survey done by SEMPO in December 2004, 82% of money invested in search marketing went to PPC ads. Organic optimization accounted for only 12% of search advertising dollars. While there are many more dollars invested in paid-search advertising than in organic search engine placement, an October 2004 study of search engine user's click-through habits by Enquiro's CEO Gord Hotchkiss shows that 69% of the users chose organic listings over the 25% that tended towards paid listings.) So instead of spending $60,000 a month on PPC ads as many companies do, consider devoting a portion of that money to optimizing your website: making your website better in terms of how it helps turns visitors into buying customers. Not only will this help in gaining a top organic listing, which should lead to an increase in traffic, it should improve your conversion rate.

Module Descriptions

With the recent trend towards developing an "in-house" online sales division, most companies are hiring their own full-time web development personnel to design and promote their product or service online. My "advanced package" is only for those companies who are serious about developing their own online sales division, but are not prepared to invest the amount of money required to hire the appropriate personnel - web designers, graphic designers, advertising, content development and search engine optimization experts. I am also only interested in those companies who understand that this is a long term investment and are prepared to invest a lot of time into promoting their site. I am somewhat familiar with all aspects of building an online sales division and can hopefully develop a web presence and generate enough business to justify any future investment in a full fledged online sales division.

This service can be broken down into three stages.

1. Design & Optimization (first three months)
2. Content Development (full time)
3. Promotion and Links Research (full time)

Design & Optimization (first three months)
In the first three months, your site will be designed and optimized to the point that it will be accepted by most search engines and directories. Even if you decide not to continue with further development and promotion, this should get you off to a good start.

Content Development (full time)
Once the site has been designed and optimized so that it can be submitted on a limited basis to all the major search engines, the next step is to develop the content of the site to make it more useful and informative. This service concentrates on the development of useful content that helps visitors make informative decisions when it comes to purchasing a product online and increases the website's ranking in the search engines.

Promotion and Link Research (full time)
This service includes a monthly submission of the site to relevant directories and the development of a links database. Every month you will receive a link exchange, visitor and position report which should give you an idea of how the site is progressing.

Online Banner and Pay-Per-Click Campaigns (Google Adwords)
The promotion service outlined above is not an exhaustive list of what is involved in promoting your web site and increasing the amount of traffic to the site. There are online advertising campaigns which consist of finding out where your visitors come from and putting banners in those areas and enhancing your listing. You can also engage in pay-per-click campaigns offered by companies like Google and Overture (now Yahoo) which charge a certain amount for each click through that a keyword receives. Google Adwords is a good short term solution that is worth trying (especially now that Google is still in the process of developing a new ranking method). These are proven methods for increasing web site traffic. However, they are best left until the site has proven its worth. These pay-per-click campaigns are a lot of work and you should learn all you can to make sure that your receive the maximum return for your investment.

Affiliate Programs
The affiliate programs out there are becoming a very lucrative source of revenue for a lot of manufactures. It can be expensive to become involved in an affiliate program and you have to be prepared for the volume of business that can come your way. I can help you set up your website so that it is ready to participate in an affiliate program like the one offered by Commission Junction. I can also walk you through the process of becoming an advertiser with an affiliate program and generating sales for your company.
